Hi, I’m Mandy, and I’m here to tell you a little about Soul Dance. I began it over five years ago because I was longing for a dance space with minimal structure and a lot of freedom.
Over time, Soul Dance has evolved into a held space where the invitation is simply to connect more deeply with our own bodies, and with our awareness of how we are and what we need in the moment. And from there, opening into movement, each of us in our own unique way.
Come as you are, dance how you feel…
A warm, candlelit space offering great music from all over the world to nourish and enliven body, heart and soul.
Friendly and welcoming, music with a lot of heart… an invitation to simply relax into your being and dance from where you are… no effort, no push…rest if you need to… be wild if you want to… connect with others… dance on your own…
No teaching
There’s no teaching as such, – instead, a relaxing ‘body meditation’ gives you the opportunity to wind down from your week and unfold into your own dance at your own pace, in your own way.
The emphasis is on coming into the body and simply allowing the body’s own wisdom to guide our movement. What does your body need, right here right now? How does it want to move? There’s a lot of freedom to simply follow your impulses and see where that takes you.
How Soul Dance works
We start with a warm up to get the body moving; get us into the groove… It varies depending on how everyone’s feeling. Sometimes the vibe is subtle and mellow. Other times, it’s a lot more full on. It’s different every time.
After the warm up, the moving meditation takes us gently into the main set – take a look at ‘The Music’ section of the site for more info. The session usually ends with a closing circle before we say goodbye.
